Happiness project is an amazing idea run at AlexShalman.com. It started of with a series of interviews with great people: bloggers, writers, authors of books, experts on happiness and many others. The project is interactive and anybody can take a part in it and answer to 5 questions concerning happiness. I really encourage you, to do so. To get more details, read about Happiness Project.
I’m also participating in this project. Below are my answers.
1. How do you define happiness?
It is a state of mind and body, when you have much more reasons to smile than to worry. You feel the positive energy inside and outside; you enjoy each moment of your life and expect the future with this very positive attitude.
2. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your happiness now, versus when you were a child?
My happiness level is in uptrend. It is constantly rising. Of course I had some worse moments in my life, but so far I’d always rebounded.
When I was 10 years old, it was about 6. I hated my primary school and it was strongly decreasing my happiness. Later, at the university, it increased to 7. Now, 8 is how I rate my happiness. There is still place to improve.
3. What do you do on a daily basis that brings you happiness? (and how consistent is the feeling of happiness throughout your day)
I fill my life with things that I love. I spend time on my passions - kung-fu, dj-ing, my blog, internet, investing; and I surround myself with the amazing people - my family and friends. The best thing to bring happiness is to share passions with people you really love. I’m doing it as often as possible.
4. What things take away from your happiness? What can be done to lessen their impact or remove them from your life?
I know that health is very important to enjoy happiness. I spend a lot of time and energy to take care of it. I’m sure it is one of my best investment. The second thing that comes to my mind is happiness of other people. If my family or friends are unhappy, then it also influences me. Therefore when I help them to bring their happiness back, I also pump up my own happiness.
5. What do you plan on doing in the future that will bring you even more happiness?
I plan to spend even more time on my passions, together with other positive people.
